Vexilar FL-18 product review

Vexilar's FL-18 has been with me through all my ice fishing ups and downs. It has even accompanied me in boat during good fishing day and bad. Sonar flashers still provide real-time signals during open water periods. They can be extremely valuable, especially in the bow of your boat or fishing off of the side of a pontoon or fishing pier.

The FL-18 has been Vexilar's Flagship Product and has served their customers well. I can attest to that myself. I have used Vexilar products for many years; owning almost every accessory that one can buy for the accomplished FL-18, including the open water transducers. My Vexilar has never failed me.

Vexilar FL-18 Ultra Pack

The FL-18 brought many new features to the sonar flasher when it arrived. Among these features were multi-level noise rejection, bottom zoom, bottom lock, dual power settings for shallow and deep water, and dual beam transducer capabilities. These are just a few of the features that caught my attention.

The FL-18 has been Vexilar’s crowning achievement in flasher technology, until the development of it latest counterpart, the FL-20. The FL-18 still incorporates the sunshield but is packed with Vexilar quality for dependability under the most adverse conditions.

The FL-18 is loaded with features to satisfy the needs of today's most serious anglers. Some features include split technology, noise rejections, shallow water low power mode, bottom locking ability and zooming capability.

The Ultra-Pack system is an ingenious design that maintains stability and incorporates all the features that you've come to expect from Vexilar. Besides providing proven stability, the Ultra-Pack also fits neatly into a 5 gallon pail for added protection and ease of transport. Look for me to field test the FL-20 before his year is over.

Features:

Auto Zoom Mode (AZ) - Gives a half screen zoom window of the bottom six feet of depth. No matter if you're in 10 feet or 100 feet, the bottom six feet always fills half of the screen. This gives you resolution never before possible in deep water!
Bottom Lock Mode (BL) - Works the same as Auto Zoom, but locks the bottom so it will not move with changes in depth or boat motion. Spot a Walleye near the bottom at 40 mph!
Low Power Mode (LP) - Reduces the output power by 50%. This feature takes the place of the Vexilar S-Cable. Both the AZ and BL modes are available within the LP mode.
Super Bright and Rock Solid Display - The new Light Emitting Diodes along with a high power driver circuit and a screaming fast wheel speed gives the FL-18s display unmatched brightness and signal clarity.
Five Depth Ranges - The Standard FL-18 includes 20', 40', 60', 80', and 200 foot ranges. The Deep Range unit includes 30', 60', 90', 120', and 300 foot ranges.
Interference Rejection - Pressing in on the Gain knob cycles you through ten different IR setting to allow you to knock out interference from another close by depth sounder.
