I purchased my first StrikeMaster gas powered auger in 1997. It was the Lazer Mag 2000. Since that time, I have had the auger upgraded with most of the latest advancements, as they have become available.
I've really appreciated the advancements in the Tufflite handle system and the implementation of the direct throttle drive mechanism.
StrikeMaster has kept me consistently on the ice, drilling away to my heart's content.
The only problems that I have ever experienced, were a dislocated recoil rope and the need for a carburetor adjustment.
The recoil rope was unfortunately my fault. I pulled it way to hard, one cold January day, and the length of the recoil rope wasn't nearly as long as my starting pull. I wanted to get fishing as quickly as possible in the brutal cold. I guess that I was a little too zealous and had to do an emergency repair to get me fishing after that.
StrikeMaster's exceptional customer service has never let me down. Whether I've wanted upgrades or an engine tune-up, StrikeMaster has accomplished it quickly while I've waited. Their trained mechanics know the equipment inside out and it's quite amazing what they can accomplish in a few minutes time. Over the years, My Lazer Mag 2000 has performed exceptionally. I've had no complaints and the auger has served me well. Whether I'm punching a handful of ice holes or over 40, I've come to rely on the dependability that I now expect from StrikeMaster. If you're considering purchasing a StrikeMaster gas powered auger, I'd suggest picking up an auger extension and a carrying case to keep it looking as new as the day that you purchased it. Even though I've only need my extension twice, over the last 10 years, it's not something that you want to be caught without if you need it. StrikeMaster also has a blade exchange program to minimize the cost of keeping your auger in peak cutting condition.
