Abu Garcia Record RCN60

Abu Garcia has been producing some of the finest bait casting reels to grace the worldwide angling market. Since the early 1950's, the company has set out to provide anglers with quality fishing reels that would withstand years of use and abuse. Abu Garcia accomplished this goal with the introduction of their Ambassadeur reel series.

The Swedish based company manufactured reels that my father came to value and depend upon for all aspects of his fishing. Whether on the lake fishing pike or chasing catfish down riverbanks, Abu Garcia's products gave him everything that he wanted in a baitcasting fishing reel. They gave him the ability to consistently put fish in the frying pan, day after day, and year after year. He never went fishing without his trusted friend that never let him down. Even though his fishing days are over, I still have his ambassadeur 4600 plus that often goes fishing with me. I like to think that Dad is there too.

Record RCN60

The Record is a welcomed addition to Abu Garcia's lineup of quality fishing reels. The record features some major advancements which make this reel appealing to a wide variety of anglers.

The Record's body is comprised of stainless steel and brass for durability and dependability. The Record also incorporates a larger diameter, vented aluminum spool for delivering enhanced casting and smooth performance.

Weighing in at 12.9 ounces, the reel has the potential for hours of nearly effortless casting ability. Though not the lightest bait-caster on the market, the Record handled well and performed within the scope of my high expectations.

Abu Garcia promotes the Record as the smoothest and longest casting reel that they have ever built. While I haven't tried all of their reels, I can attest to the fact that it is indeed a smooth operator with excellent casting ability. It handled my musky lures, no problem, and delivered them with style and distance.

The reel possesses an excellent drag system which operates smoothly and efficiently in conjunction with their patented Sensi-Brake system. The Record also incorporates a line alarm for live bait fisherman, further adding to it's appeal.

The RCN60 delivers a 5.3:1 gear ratio which makes it well adapted to situations where you want a dependable slower retrieving reel. As you would expect from Abu Garcia, the Record looks sharp and operates flawlessly.

If you plan on using any reels during extreme low temp conditions, I would suggest that you have a professional properly pack your reels with a low temp lubricant. Doing so will greatly increase your reel performance and minimize any associated internal icing problems.
