Vexilar Article
Vexilar Product Innovations
For 2007

Vexilar Logo

An American Tradition!

The Vexilar Corporation:

Has earned the reputation for delivering quality sonar technology that today's anglers have come to depend upon.

Over the years, the terms flasher and Vexilar have become synonymous; used interchangeably to describe a real-time window into the underwater world.

In keeping with their commitment,
Vexilar has added two new product innovations -to
satisfy the cravings of today's savvy anglers.

These new products are backed by the same great assurance of product quality and dependable customer service; dedicated to keeping you on the water and on top of your game.

Vexilar--"The Name Says it all !"

For the 2007 ice fishing season, Vexilar has added a two new members to their sonar flasher family. Their sleek new look and features fueled the buying public long before the first ice formed on Northern Minnesota Lakes. These new family members are the FL-20 and the FL-12. The overwhelming demand for the FL-20 made it impossible for me to obtain a mid season model from corporate to do field testing and a product review. However, I will definitely have a hands on review for this unit before January of 2008.

The most noticeable differences, to the new product lineup, are the removal of the sun shields and the changes to the LED display. By removing the sunshields, Vexilar has eliminated moisture trapping over the lower display portion. This has also resulted in a greater viewing angle from almost any position. Vexilar has also incorporated the integration of brighter LED's for easier viewing during bright daylight conditions.

I personally believe that the Ultra-pack housing is the best way to purchase any Vexilar flasher. The Ultra-pack provides a very stable base and locates the flasher head higher, providing greater viewing ease. The pack also provides a convenient storage compartment for the battery while allowing ease of access for recharging. This ensemble incorporates a battery strength indicator that you can also monitor while recharging. The housing has an on/off button and also features a tackle storage box in the back. The Ultra-pack also provides storage access for the single and dual beam transducers. This housing is definitely worth the couple of extra dollars. The product identification is (UC-100 Ultra Case) if you would like to purchase it separately direct from Vexilar. Listed below are some of the product features and images of the FL-20 and FL-12.

Fl-20 Ultra-PackThe FL-20 is Vexilar’s latest innovation in flasher technology.  The FL-20 ultra-pack version is Vexilar’s premiere product advancement.  Removal of the sunshield and incorporation of a brighter LED display have resulted in a greater angle of viewing even under bright light conditions.  The team has also incorporated a night display enhancement which allows you to lower the brightness of the LED readout.  Removing the sunshield has also reduced the issues of moisture trapping within the display.  There have also been advancements in noise rejection and shallow water technology. The FL-20 also has dual beam capabilities making the Ultra-pack unit quite impressive!

Features:

  • Auto Zoom Mode (AZ) - Gives a half screen zoom window of the bottom six feet or bottom 12 feet of depth. No matter if you're in 10 feet or 100 feet, the bottom zoom always fills half of the screen. This gives you incredible resolution in deep water!

  • Large Wide-Angle Display - The flat-screen display is 12% larger than the FL-8se and offers more than twice the viewing angle.

  • 20' Low Power Mode (LP) - Reduces the output power by 50% allowing clear readings in shallow waters with lots of vegetation.

  • Super Bright and Rock Solid Display - The new Light Emitting Diodes along with a high power driver circuit and a screaming fast wheel speed gives the FL-20's display unmatched brightness and signal clarity.

  • Five Depth Ranges - The FL-20 includes 20', 40', 60', 80', and 200 foot ranges with color-coded and numbered depth scales for easy identification.

The FL-Fl-18 Ultra-Pack18 Ultra-Pack ---- has been Vexilar’s crowning achievement in flasher technology, until the development of it latest counterpart, the FL-20.  The FL-18 still incorporates the sunshield but is packed with Vexilar quality for dependability under the most adverse conditions.  The FL-18 has been my tried and true counterpart for many years.  The FL-18 is loaded with features to satisfy the needs of today's most serious anglers.  Some features include split technology, noise rejections, shallow water low power mode, bottom locking ability and zooming capability. The Ultra-Pack system is an ingenious design that maintains stability and incorporates all the features that you've come to expect from Vexilar. Besides providing proven stability, the Ultra-Pack also fits neatly into a 5 gallon pail for added protection and ease of transport.

Features:
